Ride Southern Spain FAQ

When’s the best time of year to ride with you?

We run 10 months a year (Sept-June). Prime months: March–June and September–November (warm, grippy). Winter: lower zones are mild and dry.

On your arrival, try to land between 10AM and 12 noon where possible. And departure on Saturdays, flights from 11AM where possible. Wednesday flight times can be flexible. We get to the airport for the first persons flight time. Our shared Málaga (AGP) windows usually cover morning Saturday arrivals and morning departures the following Saturday/Wednesday. Outside these times, book private transfers with us or self-drive—easy and fast roads.

If you miss the window, we can arrange a private pick-up (extra cost) or hold your room for self-check-in if you arrive by rental car. We normally run the transfers ourselves, so get in touch and we´ll figure something out.

Yes—safe storage at the RSS villa all week. We’ll keep it out of the way.

Aggressive 2.4–2.5” tyres with reinforced casings (DoubleDown/DH/Super Trail) and tubeless sealant. A soft front / medium rear compound works great.

At minimum: brake pads, tyre plugs, a tube, derailleur hanger, quick links. We carry basics; model-specific parts are on you. Tyre fluid and inner tube.

Yes—work stand, pump, most tools, lube, and a bike-wash area at base. Big workshop jobs can be arranged in Granada/Motril if needed.

Small groups—typically 1:7 (guide:riders) with a support driver on uplift days. We split by ability to keep flow and safety high. This can sometimes change, depending on the group.

Our team includes MIAS-certified leaders (up to Level 5 Tutor) with current Outdoor First Aid, local operations insurance, and years of Sierra Nevada experience.

We re-route to rideable zones or shuffle the plan (e.g., coastal trails). Heavy rain/wind days become safety-first lower-level rides. Very rare full wash-outs are rescheduled where possible. We will ride at lower altitudes with bad weather.

Yes— Wi-Fi in apartments and terraces. Plenty of quiet corners and tables for a quick call between rides. The Wifi is not that great, 40MB, as everywhere in Spain, but it works!

We have laundry facilities for our change over days, let the crew know if you want to use them.

No problem. Town shops and restaurants can cater; we’ll point you to the right places and make bookings where needed. Tell us in advance for breakfast supplies.

Yes with conditions: accompanied by a parent/guardian, appropriate ability level, and signed consent. Contact us to discuss specifics.

Absolutely—non-rider rates available. They can enjoy the pool, spa, town, Granada day trips, or the coast.

Sorry, no pets—we’ve got resident animals (including dogs, cats, chickens and Coco the donkey).

Permitted in outdoor areas. No smoking indoors or in vehicles.

Guides often grab phone clips and photos which we share informally with the group. This isn’t a pro shoot—ask if you’d like to book a photographer.

Only where legal and safe. Spain has strict rules; some zones are restricted. Always clear it with your guide first and respect other guests and trail users.

Yes—GBP or EUR invoices available. We’ll include the legally required business details for your records.

Typical terms: £195 deposit to secure; balance 6 weeks pre-arrival. No refunds will be issued once a payment has been made. We always recommend an extra travel insurance from the moment you book.

Usually yes—add extra nights, a rest-day excursion, or private coaching. Tell us early so we can hold the room/van slots.

Appreciated for great service. Locals typically round up or leave 5–10% at cafés and restaurants. Our guides always appreciate tips!
